Aloha this beautiful piece of clothing is made from hand painted fabric. To hand paint on cloth hot wax is poured into an old fashioned well style pen. The artist must paint quickly in long smooth strokes. When the wax is dried the fabric is pulled tightly onto a wooden canvas and the artist uses small sponges & his hands to paint on the colors, water is used to create fade and variation of color. Where the wax has been painted on color will not enter the fabric leaving the design. Now the fabric is dried in the sun to set the color then washed and softened, all of this by hand.
